There was a fantastic buzz around Ballyconnell NS on Thursday last as we held our first whole-school céilí since 2019. What a joy it was to see all of our students together in the one place at the one time, with the sun shining and the Irish flag aloft in the background.

For the couple of weeks beforehand, all of the classes had been practising Ballaí Luimnigh and Shoe the Donkey so everyone was well practised beforehand.

Miss Doyle was our Bean an Tí and did a fantastic job calling out all of the steps. It’s fair to say that everybody was tuirseach traochta after the super-fast Pump It version of Ballaí Luimnigh!

We had a dancing demonstration from a grúpa comprising of students from 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th classes. We finished up with ‘Luasc an Bád’ (‘Rock the Boat’ as Gaeilge).
