The Christmas play is always one of the highlights of the year. 5th class student Mary tells us more about their play, '5th Class Save the Day!'
Christmas plays are fun to do. I am going to tell you about my Christmas play.
Loads of people in my class wanted to find out what our play was going to be about. Mr. Byrne gave us some hints about our play. Here are the hints; It’s based in school , 5th class are in the play and it has Christmas in it. Then Mr. Byrne told us that our play is 5TH CLASS SAVES THE DAY.
When we got our sheet for the play, we read it about 4 times. Then Mr. Byrne told us which character we had. I had Mrs Drennan the vice-principal. I was so happy. A bit about Mrs. Drennan: she is helpful and she is thoughtful.
Now that we found out about our play, we had to read it but you would have to read your own character. After about 2 or 3 times reading, it we started to practice acting in our classroom and on the stage in the hall.
We had lots of practices on the stage and in the classroom and they all went well.
Some people brought in props and then about a week before the play we made more props. We had to bring in shoe boxes and then we painted them grey for bricks. And we made posters for the play. They were for the people to Know the name of the scene.
IT was the night of the play. We all left school at 3 o’clock as usual. I was at home getting ready. At this moment I was excited and had butterflies in my tummy. I could not eat my food at all. Then we had to leave the house to go.
We were all in the classroom for an hour before the play. We were a bit scared. We made paper air- planes for Emma for her scene. Now I was really nervous!
Now we were in the hall. We could hear 3rd class and everyone clapping. They were finished. They came into the small room. We changed mics then the next thing I know we were walking to the stage. I could see a bunch of people and I could hear clapping. We were behind the stage getting ready.
The scene was ready for me and Hollie. We went on, we were so scared. The music was playing then ended and I had to talk. The scene was over and we did really well. I was in the third scene I went out and pushed Hollie off stage.
Now the fifth scene was up. Me, Hollie and Emma went out on stage. The fifth scene was my favourite because I had loads of lines. We went out on stage. Music was playing. I was a bit nervous for the dance me, Emma, Lee and Amaury had to do. I could see lots of people. My cousin and sister were at the first seat row. I started the scene, I heard people laughing when Emma said her line. Rory fell. He was supposed though and Hollie and Noah had to drag him off stage. Then Lee came out. Now it was time for our dance. It went really well, people were clapping. Then the scene was over and I think it was good. So I really enjoyed it. The name of the scene was ‘Auditions’.
Now we were all behind stage . Our last scene was going to happen. We went out and at the end I could see people clapping.
So that was my Christmas play. It was really fun and it went well.
