National Tree Day 2020/Lá na gCrann 2020
On October first 2020, it was National Tree Day in Ireland. National Tree Day is about getting people outside and showing how important trees are in our everyday life.
For National Tree Day, we went on a nature walk around the outside of the school and around the church car park.
Different types of trees we discovered on our nature walk were: Beech, Sycamore, Oak, Chestnut, Hazel, Ash and Elm. Those trees are Deciduous. That term means they lose their leaves in Autumn and Winter. The most common tree we found was Beech.Birch, Spruce, Pine are Coniferous/Evergreen. Coniferous means that they keep their leaves all year long.
