After their fantastic victory in the Carlow Intermediate Final, some Clonmore GAA players visited us to show off the trophy.
A couple of hours after their ladies intermediate team won their championship, the Clonmore men followed suit with a brilliant 2-12 to 1-9 victory over St Patrick’s of Tullow in the final in Netwatch Cullen Park. This bridged a 29-year gap to 1994 when Clonmore were last intermediate champions.
Once again, we were all very proud as so many past pupils lined up on the Clonmore team.
They were: Paddy Gahan (2002), Shane Murphy (2003), Billy Lawlor (2014), Matt Cullen (2013), Eoin Connolly (2014), Jake Hickey (2013), Robert Bulmer (2014), Cormac Connolly (2014). Also appearing on the panel were Darragh Connolly, Reuben Hunter, Lewis McDonnell and Adam Doyle (all 2018).
Altogether, former Ballyconnell NS students contributed 2-4 of the 2-12! Congratulations to all involved with the team! Comhghairdeas le gach duine a raibh baint acu leis an bhfoireann! On the Tuesday after the win, we were visited by Shane Murphy (captaen), Paddy Gahan, Enda McGrath, Aaron Kelly, Anthony Byrne, Clive Lambe, James Doyle (Cathaoirleach) and Des Byrne (PRO). Féachaigí ar na grianfhraif thíos!
