September has been a busy month! 6th class have been busy revising and moving on to learning lots more!
We have been learning about Mé Féin in Gaeilge and have completed oral, listening and produced pieces of writing ‘as Gaeilge’ about ourselves.
In History and Geography, we have been learning about the Celts and about the structure of the Earth. We have learned about the influence of the Celts on some place names. We researched our own home areas using the iPads on logainm.ie to learn more about where we live and the history behind them. Have a look at some of the art we then created.
In Science, we completed our first STEM challenge. In small groups, we had 2 A4 pages, scissors and glue. We had to see who could create the longest paper link chain. Afterwards, we measured the chains and discussed why some were over 4 meters in length and other were under 3metres yet each group used all the paper. There are some great problem solvers and critical thinkers in our class!
In SPHE and Religion, we were learning about our rights and our responsibilities. We discussed the importance of being a good example to the younger classes. This was related to images of God and what God was doing in each. We questioned how we could act in the image of God and identified that we could look to God for a good example to follow.
We also completed some abstract name art earlier in the month focussing on the concept of line and colour.
