Our girls reached the final of Roinn 2A of this year’s Carlow Cumann na mBunscol, playing some fantastic football along the way. Read more about their journey below!
For the first time in living memory, Ballyconnell NS girls donned helmets and picked up their camáin to take part in Carlow Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Camogie. Evanne tells us more.
24 hours after the girls made their camogie début, the Ballyconnell boys arrived in Kildavin to take part in indoor hurling for the second time. Rang a 6’s Michael tells us more.
Tokyo 2021 Olympian, Marcus Lawler, visited Ballyconnell NS recently to share some of his experiences with our students. Believe it or not, this was Marcus’s second time to visit us!

On the 19th March 2024, a number of 5th adn 6th class pupils journeyed to SETU Carlow to take part in running relays. Read the report compiled by some of the 6th class boys who were in attendance and taking part on the day.
On February 8th , 4 th , 5 th and 6 th class students arose bright and early to head for Castletown in County Wexford for the Carlow/Wexford Olympic Handball Finals.
We recently made our début (we think!) in Cumann na mBunscol hurling by attending an indoor blitz in Kildavin.
For the first time in many years (or maybe ever – we’ve to consult the archives!), Ballyconnell NS will enter a hurling team in Cumann na mBunscol Cheatharlach. Training started last Friday!
After their fantastic victory in the Carlow Intermediate Final, some Clonmore GAA players visited us to show off the trophy.
On Friday October 6 th 2023, we had a very special visit from some of the St Brigid’s panel who won the Carlow LGFA Intermediate Championship the previous Saturday as part of Clonmore’s ‘Super Saturday’!
Great excitement as boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class attended Valleymount Cross Country Championships on the 17th October 2023.
