How to make a St Bridget’s Cross by Time

Today I am going to tell you how to make a St Bridget’s Cross using the ‘time’ method.

Equipment

1. Reeds\Rushes
2. 4 Bands/Wool/Loombands
3. Scissors

Method

1. First you can find reeds\rushes in a field.
2. Cut your rushes into approximately 30cm long.
3. You will need about 16 rushes at least.
4. Now find your thickest reed.
5. Put it straight down.
6. Then get your second reed and put it across to 3 o’clock. The rest don’t have to be thick.
7. Get another reed and go down to six.
8. Get your next reed and go across to 9. Make sure you are going under 3 o clock.
9. Turn your St Bridget’s Cross left.
10. Add a reed to 9 again and turn again. We are going to keep doing this now so add another reed onto 9 under the 3 and six. Keep adding on the same way.
11. When you are finished pull the reed down a little bit from the top.
12. Get your last reed and fold it in the middle. Push it through the reed that you pulled down and tighten it all up.
13. Last part. Get your bands and tie all the edges.
