We are 6th class 2024 we made our confirmation on the 15th of March 2024. We made our confirmation with 5th and 6th class from Shillelagh NS. There were 27 of us that made our confirmation all together the celebrant was Fr John O Brien. Even though we had a very busy lead up to it, we had a great day. Now we are going to tell you all about our Confirmation.
We had a lot of preparation for our Confirmation. For weeks, we were working to make bits and pieces for our scrapbooks. We had an Enrolment Ceremony. This was to say that we wanted this and that we are going to be committed to the church for both during and after our Confirmation. Then we had a Ceremony of Light which was for our parents to pass the faith onto us. Closer to the day we made visits to the church to practice for the Confirmation. We practiced our jobs and what we had to do for the confirmation mass. Everyone worked really hard together to get ready for our big day!
On the morning of the confirmation the boys and girls from Shillelagh and Ballyconnell Ns got up pretty early I would say to get into their suits and dresses. Everyone looked amazing. When we arrived at St Marys Church in Ballyconnell, we showed our family our seats. We then went to get into our albs. Once we got into our albs, we sat down with our family. Not long after we got collected by our teachers to go outside, line up before the procession. We walked in slowly in pairs as Ms Doyle and her beautiful choir sang. When we finished mass it was about 3.30p.m. At the end of the ceremony, we were invited to stand on the altar. Ms Dagg and Ms Vickers gave us our certificates. We took many pictures before taking off our albs. Everyone then did different celebrations and visited different places.
That is all about our confirmation. We had a blast making memories together and most of us will tell our future children about our special day celebrating with friends and family. We thank our teachers and priest for helping us get to where we are now.
That’s 6th class (almost) signing off!
