4 th class have spent the year in St Mary’s Hall. They thought it a good idea to find out a little bit more about this important building in our parish and to share what they learned with their school mates.

One of the first initiatives that we carried out when we first began the Active Schools process was the Daily Mile. We thought this was a great idea to complete once again because running is one of the simplest and most effective ways of improving your fitness. It’s also one of the cheapest – no equipment required – just yourself!
The classes ran laps of the basketball court, at various times of the day that suited their teacher, for approx. 10/15 mins.
Each day, our teacher recorded how many laps we completed. This helped us keep track of our progress and provided motivation as we could see how much we were improving!
The teachers also awarded the Athlete of the Week each week with the Athlete of the Week cert. This is yet another initiative which we have completed before.
Have a look at the photographs to see how much fun the children had!
