ASW 2023 began with a bang with a healthy eating talk by Bluezone Fitness and Table Tennis for all pupils!
Active Schools Week 2023, our fourth ever Active Schools Week in Ballyconnell NS, kicked off on Monday the 29th of May with a talk for our 4th, 5th and 6th classes from Bluezone Fitness’s Cormac Byrne (a past pupil) about healthy eating. He spoke to the children about the correlation between healthy eating and high performance in sports. There was an opportunity at the end for the children to ask questions.

Afterwards, our Table Tennis take over began! All the tables were taken out of Mr Byrne’s classroom to make table tennis tables. Including our full-size table, this made 5 table tennis tables, which meant 20 pupils could play simultaneously!
The bad news was for Mr Byrne’s class was that they’d have to make do with just chairs for the rest of the school day! Check out the pictures below of our table tennis fun and Mr Byrne’s class ‘gan chathaoireacha’!
