On Friday October 2^nd, we were delighted to welcome Minister of State and local TD, Jennifer Murnane O’Connor. The Minister was accompanied by Active Schools’ Brian Kelly. Both guests were very eager to meet our new Active Schools Committee and to see some of our classes participating in the Run Around the EU Active Schools initiative.

The Committee met Brian and Minister Murnane O’Connor in the entrance hall and excitedly told them all that we have been up to in Ballyconnell NS over the last number of years.

Afterwards, we all headed to the basketball court where Rang a 2 and Rang a 5 were completing their Run Around the EU for the day. 2^nd class were running to Madrid, Spain and 5^th class were running to Rome, Italy. Both Brian and Minister Murnane O’Connor were very impressed by the children’s effort levels and noted how much the children seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Míle buíochas to Minister Murnane O’Connor and Brian for taking the time to visit us and give us an opportunity to showcase our Active Schools activities. The Run Around the EU initiative continues up until the Halloween break.
