Welcome to Cynthia Ni Mhuricu
Ballyconnell National School Extends a Warm Welcome to Cynthia Ni Mhuricu
On Wednesday November 20th 2024 Ballyconnell National School extended a warm welcome to Cynthia Ni Mhuricu.
Our pupils were excited to greet our special guest and proudly waved Irish flags as Cynthia made her way into our new school building.
Cynthia held a small meeting with our 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils. The pupils listened to Cynthia’s story from being a young girl dreaming of growing up, her time spent working in RTE, her memories of hosting the Eurovision in 1994, her life as a teacher in Carlow and her career as a barrister.
Cynthia discussed her passion for politics and the importance of having a voice. She encouraged our pupils to ‘reach for the stars’ and ‘have courage’ while they navigate their futures beyond primary school. Cynthia discussed her role as a Member of the European Parliament and the important changes she hopes to achieve, cyber safety for primary school children being a priority.
Our pupils had a wonderful time and had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion with Cynthia. Our Chairman, Seamus O’Brien thanked Cynthia for her visit to our school.
We look forward to see what Cynthia achieves as our MEP for Ireland South.
