Credit Union Quiz 2026
Hi there! Have you ever thought about trying out for your school quiz team? I have and it was a great experience. So let me tell you about the preparation and the outcome of the Credit Union Quiz 2026!
We were sitting in school. The sun was shining, birds were chirping… you know what scrap that, we are in Ireland. So as you can imagine it was raining. Hard.
We took around 10 trials and then it was time. I sat in my chair, a nervous wreck. The room was spinning. A million thoughts filled my head. What if I got on the team? How would I prepare? What if I didn't make the team? What would I do then?
Just as I ran out of questions to ask myself, Mr Byrne walked in and sat down. 1 name… 2 names… 3 names and… I had done it. I had made the team. I sank down in my chair.
Over the next few weeks we practised in our groups at break everyday to prepare for the big night.
Before we knew it, the big night arrived. I pulled up outside Tullow Community School. I looked around. ‘Am I late?’ I thought to myself. There were so many people crammed under one little shelter. I didn't know any of the people standing there. I pushed my way through the crowd trying to find a familiar face. I searched and searched until I heard my name. Finally, someone knew me. Layna and Florrie were running towards me. They dragged me through the chattering crowd. I was bumping off of everyone as we excitedly pushed through the hustle and bustle into the big building.
The lights were blinding. There were so many tables with different numbers. We sat down at number three. And eventually the quiz started. Layna wrote first and I felt like we did well but at half time we were in second place while Rathvilly were in first place. During the second half we tried to make it up to first place.
After they collected up our sheets we waited for what felt like an eternity. Finally, someone came over to us and explained that we were in a tie breaker round with four other teams. After the first two rounds we were hoping for a third round and we got it but in the end, Rathoe took the win and we came fourth.
So overall, we had a great time, made loads of memories and learned so much.
